WEBSITE UP!
Jan 13, 2026
Sadly, my family was abruptly forced to move out of the house my server was running in, thus it was unceremoniously shut down and put away to collect dust in a closet for almost an entire year. You might be wondering how someone could just throw a server rack in storage, but you'll be relieved to hear I could never afford such a piece of hardware. This thing is running on an HP Elitedesk from circa 2015, a fine upgrade from the previous Raspberry PI 2 I was experimenting with before.
It was in quite the state once I plugged it back in, and it serves as a testament to why Cloudflare exists. Nobody who wants a cute little website on the Internet deserves to be bombarded with hundreds of thousands of bot requests before they see a real visitor, especially as a beginner who doesn't even know how to check logs. Still, I think it's fun making little programms and security-by-obscurity solutions to such issues, so I am not deterred. I think it is worth the effort, if only to put the current state of the Web into perspective.
The aforementioned Elitedesk soon after being plugged in for the first time in a year. Also note my Rambley plushie that I also saw for the first time since ordering him around the same time ago
I have been back on the task for about a week now, updating everything as quickly as I can and trying to make the site not suck to run and look at. I already fixed the most important issues, and now I'm just improving things and getting back to work on art.
I made this post not because I had anything crazy to share, but because I'm so proud to have this thing back online that I feel I should at least share something other than pretty UI and major code refactors. Please check back sometime to see how things are going!
I love you all, thank you for enjoying. I'll post again soon!
