Commitment
Jul 12, 2024
I always spend an unhealthy amount of time hyperfixating on my hobbies. I've cycled between video editing, coding, music production and drawing, though I have yet to put all those things together in a meaningful way.
I made this website for so many reasons, but most important to this topic is the reason being I must combine these skills in such a way that I may still focus on one art medium at a time. For example, if I were to commit to building a game at my current skill level, I'd be thrown into complex problems where I must rely on pure intuition to solve them. Its not necessarily that I don't trust my intuition, rather that I prefer to learn one thing at a time, build baseline competence in that skill, and apply it with confidence in such an enormous project. It makes the task surmountable, the workflow realistic, the workload manageable, and most importantly, it makes the learning experience fun.
Although, thinking about it, to build such a project would teach lessons which transcend hard skills. Perhaps there's value in learning such discipline, such adaptability to things I don't yet understand. Maybe it could even build my hard skills more effectively than the methodical approach I naturally take.
Still, I'm very young, and still learning how to express myself effectively. There's so much I want to learn, and I'm enjoying the process. I really couldn't ask for a better situation than the one I'm in, where I'm empowered to take my time, love what I'm doing, and look forward to the future. It's a lot to think about, commitment is hard. Just one thing at a time, for now.
Do what makes you happy, ballers. Love you all!
